Where chaplains serve

Chaplains go where the church cannot reach on Sunday.

Each of these settings sets its own requirements for the chaplains who serve there.

Who we are

Identify, train and certify Christian chaplains who are willing to serve.

The American International Christian Chaplains Association is an outreach of Global Chaplain University. We exist for men and women who take seriously the words of Matthew 25: I was sick and ye visited me. I was in prison and ye came unto me.

Our philosophy begins with Hosea 4:6, my people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. So we train. Every AICCA chaplain commits to a code of ethics: know your limits and refer, promote justice, represent your qualifications accurately, steward resources well, and respect colleagues of every profession.

Questions

What people ask before they enroll.

What exactly do I get for $599?

Both video courses (Crisis Counseling and Pastoral Psychology, sixteen lessons in all), the Chaplain Training video, both final exams, one live Zoom training session, one year of access to the AICCA Online Campus, and, once you complete the program and we verify your photo ID, your AICCA Chaplain Certificate, Chaplain Badge and Chaplain ID card.

How long does it take?

The program is self-paced and designed to be completed in about a week: the lessons total roughly nine hours of video, plus two exams. Study at your own pace during your twelve months of included access.

What kind of certification is this?

AICCA certification is an ecclesiastical certification issued by a Christian ministry association. It is not a state license and not an academic accreditation. Hospitals, correctional facilities and other institutions set their own requirements for the chaplains who serve there; many welcome trained volunteer and community chaplains, and some require additional credentials for paid clinical roles.

What happens if I do not pass an exam?

You may take each final exam up to three times. Your score and a pass or retry message appear as soon as you finish. If you do not pass after three attempts, contact AICCA; we will talk through your options with you.

Do I need special software or technical skills?

No. The online campus works in an ordinary web browser on a phone, tablet or computer. You need an email address and speakers or headphones for the video lessons. If you get stuck, call us.

Is there a background check?

Applicants must have a clean criminal record, and AICCA may require a background check before credentials are issued. We also verify your photo ID before your certificate, badge and ID card are mailed.
